French & Comparative Literature Research Group
The French & Comparative Literature Research Group is a forum for graduate students and faculty to present work in progress and receive collegial, productive feedback prior to submission for publication or delivery of a conference paper. Every participant is expected to review the presenter’s written submission before the monthly meeting and to be prepared to discuss it. All students and faculty in French and Comparative Literature are invited to participate.
Our meetings provide an opportunity for graduate students and faculty to present to a collegial group a planned conference presentation or article for submission.
Spring 2026 Meeting Dates and Subjects:
- February 6th, 2026: Alix Attali, The Graduate Center (French), delivered the conference paper paper titled “Étrangeté dans et à partir de Lettre à Jimmy d’Alain Mabanckou : hybridité, morbidité, originalité et contre-productivité.
- March 6th, 2026: Professor Erec R. Koch, The Graduate Center (French), presented for discussion a book chapter titled “Devotional Imitation of Worldly Maxims.”
- April 10, 2026: Paola Boué, The Graduate Center (French), will deliver a conference paper titled “From France to the United States: Édouard Louis and Queer Literature.”
- May 10, 2026: Beaton Galafa, The Graduate Center (French), will present an article TBA.

- October 9, 2025: Shane Manieri, The Graduate Center (Comparative Literature), delivered the conference paper “Fortune’s Womb: Machiavelli’s Feminine Allegories and the Anatomy of Power.”
- November 7, 2025, Professor Boukary Sawadogo, CCNY (Media & Communication Arts) and The Graduate Center (French), presented for discussion a book chapter titled “Critical Lenses in the Study of Animation in Africa”
