Lois Elaine Griffith is an artist/writer whose work is grounded in her Afro-Caribbean roots. She is one of the founders of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and for 23 years taught at Borough of Manhattan Community College. She has established the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Founders Archive Project to encourage study of arts and letters from the Caribbean and its diaspora. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
