About the NYC Climate Justice Hub Classes and Curriculum Initiative for CUNY Faculty

Are you teaching--or do you want to teach--about climate change and environmental issues in our communities and our world? Are you interested in climate justice (CJ) and environmental justice (EJ), and the groups leading the efforts to promote justice, sustainability and resilience in NYC?

Do you have a course that you are teaching that utilizes EJ and/or CJ content and works so well that you want to share it with others? Are you looking for readings to integrate, especially that help students understand better what is happening in NYC and who is doing this work on the ground? Are you interested in potentially collaborating and providing support to groups leading efforts to promote justice, sustainability and resilience in NYC?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above, we want to work with you! Please fill out this form to join the Classes and Curriculum Initiative of the NYC Climate Justice Hub.

The Hub is working to create a community of interdisciplinary faculty who are developing curricula that incorporate more CJ and EJ content. Faculty who join will get access to Hub-related resources, have an opportunity to meet and innovate CJ and EJ curricula with colleagues from across CUNY, and collaborate with Hub staff and partners to develop experiential learning opportunities.

Launched in September 2023
, the NYC Climate Justice Hub (the Hub) is a partnership between CUNY and the NYC Environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA)—a coalition of grassroots organizations who have led the fight for climate justice in NYC since 1991— to support NYC-EJA’s efforts to realize climate justice for New York City’s underserved, working-class Black and Brown communities. Operating out of the Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center, the Hub is working with faculty, students, and frontline communities to create, support, and disseminate place-based climate justice curricula throughout the CUNY system.

If you have any questions or would be interested in learning more about the work of the Hub, do not hesitate to reach out to Kobie Colemon, Project Lead, NYC Climate Justice Hub–Classes & Curriculum here, and please fill out this form.
