Mary Miss Studio and CITY AS LIVING LABORATORY (CaLL)
Since the beginning of her career in the late 1960s, Mary Miss has been combining methods of sculpture, architecture, and landscape design within her artistic practice in order to catalyze alternate visions of public space. Her current project is City as Living Laboratory: Broadway 1000 Steps, which aims to establish Broadway as the “green corridor” of New York City. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and publications concerning land art, abstraction, sculpture, minimalism, and feminism. She is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and the American Institute of Architects’ Medal of Honor. Monographic exhibitions of her work have been presented at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London; the Harvard University Art Museums, and the Brown University Gallery.
