Kehinde Alonge

Lost & Found Archival Research Fellow

Kehinde Alonge is a rising 6th year English Ph.D. Candidate at Rutgers University. His
interest lies in the intersection between 20th-century experimental Black poetics and
Black music (i.e., Free Jazz and the rise of the Black Arts Movement). Kehinde is
working on a dissertation that grapples with the aesthetics and politics of Black Arts
collectives before and after the Black Arts Movement and explores how our archival
practices can honor their work and commitment to improvisation, free-play with
temporality, and dispossession. Beyond his scholarly work, Kehinde hopes his work will
also make the case for making archives of Black Art accessible to Black diasporic
communities outside of academic institutions.
