Jaïra Placide

Presidential Research Fellow (PS2)

Jaïra Placide (she/ her/ hers) PS2 Presidential Research Fellow, Public Scholarship. Jaïra is a Ph.D. candidate in English at the CUNY Graduate Center with advanced certificates in Interactive Technology and Pedagogy, Women Studies and Film and Media Cultures.

Her research interests are children’s literature, Black girlhood, comics, visual literacy, Afro-futurism, archives, religion and African-based spirituality, hip hop and youth culture, and Haiti/U.S. relations.

She serves as Special Projects Coordinator at the Haitian Studies Institute at Brooklyn College CUNY.
