Claire Sommers

Claire Sommers is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature at the Graduate Center, CUNY, where she also holds several administrative positions. She is the Deputy Coordinator of the Critical Theory Certificate, a program she created and for which she also wrote the curriculum. In addition, she is the Deputy Director of Special Projects and a Presidential Research Fellow at the Center for the Humanities and the Deputy Director of the Writers’ Institute. She is also the Promotions Fellow of the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA). Claire teaches English and Comparative Literature at Fordham, Hunter, and Baruch. Her dissertation examines various modes of hybridity as a reflection of the author’s creative process in Classical and English and French Renaissance literature.
