Basil Alsubee
We Stay/Nos Quedamos Hub Advocate
Basil Alsubee is a Syrian teacher, writer, and documentary filmmaker currently serving as the Project Manager and Climate Hub Advocate at We Stay / Nos Quedamos. He draws from his background in community organizing, urban historiography, and environmental justice work between Southeast Michigan and New York City to address the intersection of environmental justice and housing justice in the South Bronx. Through the Climate Justice Hub, Basil aims to put together a hyperlocal South Bronx environmental justice and housing justice youth organizing curriculum. In everything he does, Basil hopes to put into practice the potential of coalition-building across various histories and geographies.
