Through his solo exhibition You’re at home, held in fall 2019 at Brooklyn’s Pioneer Works, artist Jacolby Satterwhite created an immersive environment that caused us to question how perception, space, and time work in relation to one another. This informal evening salon, hosted by the Graduate Center, CUNY’s Center for the Humanities at Pioneer Works Science Studios, offered an opportunity to ponder the worlds we create through the mind’s eye. This event included a special visit to the exhibition with its curator Gabriel Florenz, as well as a conversation about the alternative mental spaces we create through visual art, writing, music, and other creative practices with essayist Garnette Cadogan, artist Rachel Rossin, cognitive neuroscientist Tony Ro hosted by the Center’s director Keith Wilson and the Wellcome Trust Mental Health Curatorial Research Fellow Rebecca Hayes Jacobs.
