Staging Queer Feminist Perspectives Today

Mon, Mar 19, 2018

6:30 PM–8:00 PM

The Skylight Room (9100)

Queer women performance makers (writers, directors, and choreographers) come together to discuss what it means to have to develop and assert an authorial voice as a queer woman in the performing arts today. What stories are queer women telling on stage? What stories have we yet to tell? What are the particular struggles for queer women, especially queer women of color, in staging their unique visions in 2018? How can we respond to the #metoo movement through live performance and body-based art? Should we? Join Xianix Barrera, Susana Cook, Casey Llewellyn, Nina Angela Mercer and Janet Werther (moderator) for this timely roundtable discussion.

Co-sponsored by Theatre as QPOC Activism Beyond the Script research team as part of the mp3: Poetry, Philosophy, Performativity Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research from the Center for the Humanities, and CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies at the Graduate Center, CUNY.
