Join Professor Denise Ferreira Da Silva for the second annual Gloria Thomas Memorial Lecture. Her talk, “Reading the Dead: Slavery, Raciality, and the Critique of Global Capitalism,” continues her feminist and black radical critique of the conceptual, political, and ethical challenges of the global present. The Gloria Thomas Memorial Lecture is an annual event sponsored by the Institute for Research on the African Diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean (IRADAC) which honors the memory of Gloria Thomas, former assistant director of IRADAC. The series seeks to recognize and reinforce the necessary ties between feminism and struggles for social justice among the peoples of the African Diaspora. Professor Da Silva will be introduced by Ruthie Gilmore of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
