How Could the Holocaust Have Happened?: The 17th Annual Irving Howe Lecture

Tue, Nov 13, 2012

7:00 PM

Timothy Snyder’s acclaimed Bloodlands charted a new kind of European history, presenting the mass murders committed by the Nazi and Stalinist regimes as two aspects of a single history, in the time and place where they occurred. Join the acclaimed historian for a lecture that will concentrate on the greatest of these atrocities, the holocaust of the Jews. Snyder will seek to provide a structural explanation of the Nazi attempt to physically exterminate European Jewry, and contemplate its implications for public policy in the twenty-first century.
