For Syria: an Evening of Poetry in Translation

A reading of modern and contemporary Syrian poetry in English translation featuring poems by Najat Abdul Samad, Faraj Bayraqdar, Muhammad al-Maghut, Nizar Qabbani, Liwaa Yazji, Hala Mohammad, Firas Sulaiman and many others. Poems will be read by CUNY and New York based faculty, writers and poets.
This event is presented as part of Translation, an interdisciplinary research group that investigates how translation might be understood as a process of transformation that deepens engagement with places, people, cultures, and languages.
