The Environmental Studies Working Group Meeting invites you to gather with us on March 3rd from 2:00-4:30pmin the Center for the Humanities (Room 5103) at the CUNY Graduate Center. For this first meeting of the semester, we’ll connect through facilitated discussion, a few break-out/structured small sessions, and a group share. Anyone interested in environmental studies and climate justice from any discipline is welcome and encouraged to join. There will be nourishment!

On the agenda:

1 – What are our goals/orientations for this year? How do they relate to environmental justice?
2 – What most interests you about being part of this group?
3 – What modes of engagement are most manageable and meaningful to you?

In order to come with some common language, please take a moment to read Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “The Sacred and the Superfund from Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants. You might also check out Eric Dean Wilson recent post as writer-in-residence for Distributaries, the Center for the Humanities’s blog, Submerging Within the Environmental Humanities, which explores many of the themes and challenges relevant to this group.
