Join writers, scholars, and memoirists for a conversation about Nancy K. Miller’s new memoir, Breathless: An American Girl in Paris, a coming-of-age story set in the 1960s. Why was Paris the place to be for fifties girls? What was sex like before feminism? Miller’s memoir chronicles her romantic misadventures, domestic apprenticeship, and minor forays into French cuisine. Wayne Koestenbaum, Tahneer Oksman, and Kamy Wicoff will consider these questions and others, as they reflect on the pleasures and pitfalls of memoir and the dangers of self-disclosure.
