Enhancing CUNY-Wide Capacity to Promote Collaborative Gender Justice
As part of a research project supported by the CUNY Adjunct Incubator, Anthony Freeman, an Adjunct Professor in the Gender Studies Program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, is developing a research project “Enhancing CUNY-Wide Capacity to Promote Collaborative Gender Justice,” which seeks to support faculty and students at CUNY involved in work around gender justice.
This public research project seeks to develop pedagogical policies and best practices aimed at better serving the needs of faculty and students at CUNY involved in work around gender justice.
The project includes the development of a website that will act as a clearinghouse for students and instructors involved in gender, sexuality and women’s studies throughout CUNY. There is currently no centralized electronic database that can operate as a guide for students and adjuncts interested in these disciplines.
The website will aid students in finding relevant classes and support adjuncts to find best practices related to teaching in these disciplines; especially as it pertains to adapting course materials for communities of color and teaching online/hybrid classes related to gender, sexuality and women’s studies.
Throughout this project, an advisory committee will inform the content including discussions to gain a broad understanding of faculty and student experiences across CUNY in these disciplines.
This project is part of the CUNY Adjunct Incubator and is co-sponsored by the Center for the Humanities and the Gittell Urban Studies Collective at the Graduate Center, CUNY.
