Viviana Bucarelli is a PhD candidate at The Graduate Center, CUNY. Her work focuses on the history of American Art in the Interwar period. Her dissertation titled “Awe in Quietude: Transcendental Magic Realism“ addresses the development of Magic realism in the United States in this period. She is also an art critic and the New York correspondent for The Art Newspaper. She has previously written for Flash Art magazine and La Stampa newspaper, among others. She has been for several years a Professor at Hunter College of the City University of New York where she currently teaches “History of Modern Art from 1900-1945.”
