Sheila Malovany-Chevallier and Constance Borde met as students at Douglass College, Rutgers University and re-connected in France in 1964, a year after graduation. Together and separately, they both took degrees in French universities and had long careers at l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques. Feminism has been central to their friendship and collaboration, culminating in their new translation of Le Deuxième Sexe by Simone de Beauvoir in 2009-10. This life-changing experience has led to an active involvement with the ongoing studies of gender and issues of feminism around the world. Over the past three years, they have been invited to participate in lectures, conferences, and panels in cities and universities in the US, Canada, Australia, and India.
