Richard Perez is assistant professor of English at John Jay College School of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York, where he has taught literature and theory courses since 2001. His areas of interest include US Latino/a and Ethnic literatures; Transamerican and Caribbean literatures; and Post-colonial literature and theory. His publications include an edited anthology entitled Contemporary U.S. Latino/a Literary Criticism (2007) in Palgrave Macmillan’s series American Literature Readings in the Twenty-First Century. He is currently working on two books: the first is an analysis of US Latino/a aesthetics, and the second a reconsideration of the specter in Transamerican literature.
