Lisa McGirr professor of history at Harvard University. Her research and teaching interests bridge the fields of social and political history and focus, in particular, on collective action, political culture, reform movements, and political ideology. Her award-winning first book, Suburban Warriors: The Origins of the New American Right (2001) investigates the social and regional basis of grassroots conservative politics in the post-World War II United States, and she is, with Eric Foner, coeditor of American History Now (2011). Currently, McGirr is at work on a book entitled Prohibition and the Making of Modern America.
