Kaja Silverman is the Katharine and Keith L. Sachs Professor of Art History at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of nine books, including The Subject of Semiotics (1983), The Acoustic Mirror: The Female Voice in Psychoanalysis and Cinema (1988), World Spectator (2000), and Flesh of My Flesh (2011). Her most recent book The Miracle of Analogy (2015) is the first installment of her History of Photography series, a three-volume history of photography. The second volume, The Three-Personed Picture, will be published in 2018. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and is currently the holder of an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Distinguished Achievement Award.
