Jeff Levine joined The Shed—the first multi-arts center designed to commission, produce, and present all types of performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture, opening in spring 2019 in New York—as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer in December 2016. His role on the senior management team is to define and differentiate The Shed, build institutional awareness, develop audiences, and foster broad appreciation of its program and mission. He supervises marketing, communications, graphic design, editorial, and ticket services.

From 2007 to 2016, he held the same title at the Whitney Museum of American Art and was deeply involved in planning and opening the Whitney's building in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, which greatly increased the museum’s public profile and more than tripled its annual attendance. Jeff began his professional career at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) in 1993.

Through 2007, he held a series of positions, and was promoted to Vice President for Marketing and Communications in 1999. In that role he supervised marketing, communications, graphic design, digital media, box office, ticket services, community affairs, and the repertory cinema program.

Jeff holds a bachelor's degree in English from Binghamton University and a master's degree in Business (Arts Administration) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has presented at conferences including Communicating the Museum, the American Museum Marketing Association, and the National Arts Marketing Project, and lectured at schools including Columbia University and NYU. Jeff lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two sons.
