Demet Arpacik
Demet Arpacık is a doctoral student in the Language, Context, and Culture strand of Urban Education department at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She received her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Administration from Boston College in 2013. She is currently a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the Educational Foundations department at Hunter College and Middle and Secondary Education department at Lehman College, NY. Arpacık’s project is concerned with the Kurdish language activism in Turkey, its transformation, its relation with the state and its apparatus as well as language ideologies. Her broader interests include multilingual-critical education, transformative and social emancipatory educational and linguistic practices.
