About this working group meeting

The Environmental Studies Working Group Meeting invites you to gather with us on March 3rd from 2:00-4:30pm in the Center for the Humanities (Room 5103) at the CUNY Graduate Center. For this first meeting of the semester, we'll connect through facilitated discussion, a few break-out/structured small sessions, and a group share. Anyone interested in environmental studies and climate justice from any discipline is welcome and encouraged to join. There will be nourishment!

On the agenda:

1 - What are our goals/orientations for this year? How do they relate to environmental justice?
2 - What most interests you about being part of this group?
3 - What modes of engagement are most manageable and meaningful to you?

In order to come with some common language, please take a moment to read Robin Wall Kimmerer's "The Sacred and the Superfund" from Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants. You might also check out Eric Dean Wilson recent post as writer-in-residence for Distributaries, the Center for the Humanities's blog, "Submerging Within the Environmental Humanities," which explores many of the themes and challenges relevant to this group.

We hope to see you there!

With warmth,
Eric Dean Wilson & Kendra Sullivan
