Susan Naomi Bernstein
Susan Naomi Bernstein works extensively in the academic field of Basic Writing. Her publications include the essays “Occupy Basic Writing,” in Welch and Scott’s collection Composition in the Age of Austerity, “A Limestone Way of Learning,” in Chronicle of Higher Education, and the books Teaching Developmental Writing 4e (Bedford/St. Martin’s) and A Brief Guide to the Novel (Pearson). Her article on graduate training and Basic Writing is forthcoming in Journal of Basic Writing. She served as co-coordinator of the Stretch First-Year Writing Program at Arizona State University from 2013-2018 and is currently adjunct assistant professor of English at Queens College and Baruch College.
