Rafael A. Mutis Garcia

Rafael A. Mutis Garcia is a Ph.D. student in Earth and Environmental Science is an immigrant from Califas/Colombia living and working in the U.S. in community and academic settings against the targeting/in defense with poor communities of color, immigrants, women, LGBTQ folks and young people. A long-time resident of El Barrio Mutis has also studied and worked in community gardens and with the use herbs as medicine for the past 20 years and is a practicing herbalist. Mutis currently teaches classes at Hostos Community College and at Bronx Community College, both part of CUNY. He earned an M.A. in Political Science and an MPH in Community Health and a Family Herbalist Certificate.
