Michelle M. Wright

Keynote Speaker

Michelle M. Wright is the Augustus Baldwin Longstreet Professor of English at Emory University, where she teaches courses in African American Studies and Black and African Diaspora Studies. She is the author of Becoming Black (Duke UP, 2004), and Physics of Blackness (UMN Press 2015). She is currently at work on a new book project, tentatively titled Afroeuropolis, which looks at how Black diasporic travel narratives construct the space of Europe. Professor Wright is also, with Jodi A. Byrd, co-editor of the series Critical Insurgencies, published through Northwestern University Press and the Critical Ethnic Studies Association.
