Julia Sandke | Queens College
Major: Geological and Environmental Sciences (MA)
Julia Sandke (she/her) is an MA student in Geological and Environmental Sciences at Queens College and the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, focusing on harmful algal blooms, coastal biogeochemistry, and ecology. She just completed a BS in Environmental Science at Queens College, where she worked in two research laboratories and as a peer mentor and peer advisor for the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Julia previously received a BFA in Dance in 2018 from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and loves to explore the interrelatedness of art and environmental science. She’s excited to learn about climate policy, history, and advocacy during this fellowship and to increase climate justice initiatives on CUNY campuses, and by extension, NYC. Julia is looking forward to learning how best to integrate climate justice into her research as she moves on to graduate school, and to meeting new people within the CUNY community to build strong connections across campuses.
