Joy Ellison
Joy Ellison is an assistant professor of Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Rhode Island. They are the coauthor of “The Afterward: Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson in the Medieval Imaginary” (Medieval Feminist Forum, 2019) and “Wear Your Most Daring Clothes, Honey: The Transvestite/Transsexual Legal Committee and the Emergence of Trans Feminism (Feminist Studies, 2023). Their research covers transgender history in the Midwestern United States from 1945 to 2000. Ellison is also the author of Sylvia and Marsha Start a Revolution! which tells the story of transgender heroes Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson.
