Joshua B. Freeman

Joshua B. Freeman teaches history at Queens College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and is affiliated with its Joseph S. Murphy Labor Institute. He is the author of Working-Class New York: Life and Labor since World War II (2000) and In Transit: The Transport Workers Union in New York City, 1933-1966 (2001). With Steve Fraser he is coeditor of Audacious Democracy: Labor, Intellectuals, and the Social Renewal of America (1997). His latest work is American Empire, 1945-2000: The Rise of a Global Power, the Democratic Revolution at Home, which completes as its final volume the Penguin History of the United States.
