Jonathan Toro 

Lost & Found Archival Research Fellow

Jonathan Toro is a Bronx-born Puerto Rican artist and scholar. He is currently a first-
year doctoral student in English at the CUNY Graduate Center. As a Nuyorican, he
draws on my experiences to study Puerto Rican, Nuyorican, and Afro-Caribbean digital
archives, aesthetics, ontologies, and epistemologies. He take on this research as the
Digital Archivist for the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Founders Archive Project (NPCFAP), a
project founded around 2015 by Lois Elaine Griffith, one of the last surviving founders of
the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. In this role, he helps safeguard the legacy of the Cafe’s
founders by creating an archival website that promotes education, creation, community,
and discourse.
