Francesca Ferrari

Francesca Ferrari is a PhD student in Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, where she is a recipient of the Robert Lehman Fellowship for Studies in the Fine Arts. She holds a MA in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania (2017) and a BA in Art History and English Literature from the University of Lausanne (2014). Her research focuses on twentieth-century European and Latin American art, with special emphasis on avant-garde portraiture and the relation between modernist representations of the human body and pseudoscientific disciplines such as anthropometry and physiognomy. Her professional experiences include positions with the Museo d’Arte della Svizzera Italiana, the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Sotheby’s auction house, Christo and Jeanne Claude’s Floating Piers, the Incubation Series, the Barnes Foundation, and the department of art history at New York University.
