Derek Hook
Derek Hook is lecturer at the Institute of Social Psychology, London School of Economics. His work aims to bridge the domains of critical social theory and social psychology. He is author of the monograph Foucault, Psychology and the Analytics of Power (2010), and several articles including “Affecting whiteness: Racism as technology of affect”; “Postcolonial psychoanalysis”; ”Pre-discursive racism; The racial stereotype, colonial discourse, fetishism”; and “Fanon and the psychoanalysis of racism.” He was the recipient of Vivienne Schellshop Research Prize, and a Rockefeller post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute for the Study of Public Culture, Emory University. Hook is also one of the founding editors of the journal Subjectivity, and is completing a psychoanalytic training at the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research in London.
