Brent Hayes Edwards

Brent Hayes Edwards teaches African diasporic literature, jazz studies, poetics, and translation theory in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and the Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University. His books include The Practice of Diaspora, Epistrophies: Jazz and the Literary Imagination, scholarly editions of classic works by W. E. B. Du Bois, Joseph Conrad, Frederick Douglass, and Claude McKay, and the translation of Michel Leiris’s Phantom Africa.
