Barbara Webb

Professor Barbara Webb teaches Caribbean, African and African American literatures at Hunter College and the PhD Program in English at the CUNY Graduate Center. She is the author of Myth and History in Caribbean Fiction, a comparative study of the literary theories and novels of Alejo Carpentier, Wilson Harris, and Edouard Glissant. She has also published articles on African American and Caribbean women writers.  Her research interests include postcolonial theory, transnational and transcultural expressive forms, and theories of creolization.  Her current book project is “Historical Memory and Loss in the Fiction of Jamaica Kincaid, Michelle Cliff, and Edwidge Danticat.”
