Anne Garland Mahler

Anne Garland Mahler is Associate Professor at the University of Virginia where she is a cultural studies scholar of anti-racist and anti-capitalist social movements. Mahler is the author of From the Tricontinental to the Global South: Race, Radicalism, and Transnational Solidarity (2018) and the creator and director of Global South Studies: A Collective Publication with The Global South. Her written work has appeared in Latin American Research ReviewJournal of Latin American Cultural StudiesSmall Axe: A Caribbean Journal of CriticismThe Global South AtlanticAmerican Communist History Atlantic Studies: Global Currents The Global SouthOxford Bibliographies of Literary and Critical Theory. She received a PhD in 2013 from Emory University, where she trained in twentieth and twenty-first century Latin American cultural studies with a comparatist approach to the histories of civil rights, decolonization, and radical movements in the Americas.
