Alan Smart
Alan Smart is professor at the Department of Anthropology, University of Calgary. His research has focused on urban issues, housing, foreign investment, social change, food safety, zoonotic diseases, and agriculture in Hong Kong, China, and Canada. His books include Making Room: Squatter Clearance in Hong Kong; Petty Capitalists and Globalization: Flexibility, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (2005), coedited with Josephine Smart; and The Shek Kip Mei Myth: Squatters, Fires and Colonial rule in Hong Kong, 1950-1963 (2006).
