The Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center is immediately seeking to hire a part-time Project Manager for a new exciting project, The NYC Climate Justice Hub. Hours: 20 hours a week. This is a hybrid position located in the CUNY Graduate Center. Frequent travel within NYC and attendance at meetings, events, and coworking sessions will be required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits:
Part time/hourly: $50 per hour (20 hours a week; 1040 hours a year) + benefits including health insurance, direct pay, and waiver plans.
About the project:
The NYC Climate Justice Hub is a learning partnership between the City University of New York and NYC Environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA), funded by the Waverley Street Foundation. Its aim is to accelerate climate justice by expanding environmental research, policy analysis, and advocacy resources at CUNY to serve the NYC communities most overburdened by climate and environmental risks. The project will support new research, expanded curriculum, public engagement, and student and faculty fellowships at the GC and across CUNY.
Overview of role:
The part-time project manager will work closely with a dynamic team of activists, scholars, and community-based organization leaders from across the CUNY and NYC-EJA to plan, staff, and in some cases implement activities associated with the NYC Climate Justice Hub project lifecycle. The project manager will work with the project team to advance project strategy, mapping, and design; worksteam development and implementation; establish and support reporting and assessment systems; and help plan next steps. This position is envisioned as a high-level strategist, working closely with the support of team leadership to identify key resources and workstreams, set up systems, identify and address pain points, and assign roles.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Determine and define project scope and objectives, ensuring they remain in alignment with the overall mission and vision of the project.
Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
Set up a clear accountability structure to manage expectations for tasks and deliverables across teams, providing all proper materials and documentation when necessary.
Establish consensus around a project contract that determines and upholds communications, decision-making, accountability, and community agreements.
Work collaboratively to develop objectives, work plans, and plan the logistics of the Climate Justice Summer Academy and fellowship program, including recruiting 30 students per year for the program.
Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
Work collaboratively to design, launch, and staff the participatory budget project.
Identify and report any project risks or dependencies that may occur throughout the project lifecycle and escalate issues appropriately.
Identify opportunities to amplify project impacts and work with the team to develop a plan to incorporate the opportunities into the project.
Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner and appropriately align resources against project needs, including mapping forecasting of hours/projections for projects.
Develop strong relationships with team members across CUNY as well as NYC-EJA and WSF.
Facilitate and coordinate regular meetings between CUNY and NYC-EJA stakeholders.
Develop a strong understanding of the CUNY system as well as NYC-EJA’s member groups and campaigns and the environmental justice issues they address.
Assist in the development and implementation of a multilayered branding, visual identity, storytelling, and engagement plan.
Work with CUNY and NYC-EJA teams to develop an evaluation plan for the project.
Produce an end of project report to evaluate the first phase of the project.
