The Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center is immediately seeking to hire a full-time Coordinator position for a new exciting project, The NYC Climate Justice Hub.

Pending funding availability and performance review, this position is renewable on an annual basis for the duration of the grant. This position is grant funded.
Hours: 35 hours.This is a hybrid position located in the CUNY Graduate Center. Frequent travel within NYC will be required for this position.
Salary Range: $72,667 to $79,188

About the project: The NYC Climate Justice Hub, is a learning partnership between the City University of New York (CUNY) and New York City Environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA), funded by the Waverley Street Foundation. Its aim is to accelerate climate justice by expanding environmental research, policy analysis, and advocacy resources at CUNY to serve the NYC communities most overburdened by climate and environmental risks. The project will support new research, expanded curriculum, public engagement, and student and faculty fellowships at the GC and across CUNY.
About the Role: The NYC Climate Justice Hub Coordinator will work in collaboration with CUNY and NYC-EJA (including NYC-EJA’s Hub Coordinator, CUNY’s core team and research teams, and NYC-EJA’s member organizations) to support the NYC Climate Justice Hub by coordinating the programmatic activities and by connecting CUNY staff and resources to NYC-EJA campaigns.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the NYC-EJA Hub Coordinator to provide mutual ongoing support, direction, and structure to the CUNY/NYC-EJA partnership
- Coordinating clear communication channels among the members of the Hub
- Aligning schedules, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, facilitating meetings and taking notes
- Maintaining all files and documents and inputting info into the Storymap and database
- Monitoring the project and ensuring project deliverables are met
- Working closely with the CUNY Core Team to match NYC-EJA member priorities with CUNY resources and research
- Working with the CUNY Core Team to embed evaluation frameworks across the project deliverables
- Identifying and reporting any project risks or dependencies that may occur throughout the project lifecycle and escalate issues appropriately
- Identifying opportunities to amplify project impacts and work with the team to develop a plan to incorporate the opportunities into the project
Required experience:
- Working with communities on a grassroots level with experience working in NYC a plus (4+ years experience)
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills and can manage and work with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Connecting stakeholders (coalition-building a plus)
- Strong program or project management skills, such as work planning, team management, and event planning (4+ years experience)
- Works well independently and can initiate and complete tasks with some direction
Desired experience:
- Working with offices and/or communities at CUNY
- Program implementation experience
- Design and facilitation skills for various group formats, such as meetings, workshops, and panels
- Extensive knowledge of environmental justice, social justice, or related fields
Further Information:
- Please note that this position ends on June 30th of each year with renewal as appropriate and subject to funding. The renewal will be for 1 year at a time from July 1 to June 30.
- The position comes with annual contractual increases on July 1 or January 1 of the following year depending on start date.
