Join Distinguished Professor Gail Levin as she explores the ideas behind the exhibition A Century in Art, which focuses on the first half of Theresa Bernstein’s career, and her engagement with significant issues of her day, from woman’s suffrage to jazz. Fascinated by people, Theresa Bernstein (1890-2002) produced vivid scenes from daily life in New York and Gloucester, MA, where she spent her summers together with her husband, artist William Meyerowitz. Levin is the author of numerous books, including Lee Krasner: A Biography, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, and Becoming Judy Chicago: A Biography of the Artist.
