The Public Humanities Fellowship Showcase
Thu, Oct 12, 2017
4:00 PM–6:00 PM
The Skylight Room (9100)
Join Humanities New York and its nine university partners in showcasing the innovative accomplishments of past recipients of the Public Humanities Fellowship. The Fellowship offers graduate students across New York State support and training to work with their communities on a project for public audiences, building the next generation of public-facing humanities scholars.
Six former Fellows will discuss the projects they’ve created under the program, such as a walking tour of historic Byrdcliffe, philosophy classes for the incarcerated, a website teaching and preserving the Seneca language, and taking the first steps towards establishing a museum in Kingston, NY. The Showcase will provide a view into current developments in the public humanities and demonstrate the vital role the humanities play in our communities, today and in the future.
