Indigenous as Alien

What happens when immigration law focuses on the exclusion and deportation of aliens without recognizing preexisting indigenous populations’ territory? In this talk, Leti Volpp (Law, UC Berkeley) will examine the political theory underpinning immigration law and the consequences of the “settler contract” for indigenous populations, including their transformation into aliens.
