<em>Before…After</em>: A Two-Part Exhibition by Elva Mulchrone

Please join us September 26 from 6-8pm for an exhibition reception of Before, the first part of a two-part exhibition by visual artist Elva Mulchrone, Visual artist and Fulbright Scholar to the Graduate Center CUNY will present her work and give an artist talk at 6:30 pm on the research and inspiration of the work.

Through paper, wood, canvas, linen and video Mulchrone’s pieces, exploring medium and color, feature disconnected and obstructed mapping, which allude to both personal narratives and photographs made by children who face social immobility and inequality from multiple perspectives. She will speak about how her work is inspired by research and produced during her Dublin City Council Incubation Space Award in 2024, and whilst she was Artist in Residence at Dublin City University 2022/23.

During the next three months, Mulchrone will immerse herself in an archive of photographs produced by diverse working-class and immigrant children who participated in CUNY Graduate Center’s Professor Wendy Luttrell’s research, Children Framing Childhood. These works on paper will be presented in the exhibition After and discussed by the artist on November 20th at the CUNY Graduate Center.
