Revolution, Bodies, and Urban Space in Egypt
Setha Low, Claire Panetta, Karim Tartoussieh
What does the people’s movement have to do with public space? Join scholars Setha Low, Claire Panetta, and Karim Tartoussieh and others for a discussion of young, middle class Egyptian activists’ attempts to re-envision their relationship to public space in the aftermath of Mubarak’s resignation in February 2011. What are the social processes that transform spaces into places? How did political-economic factors, from the Mubarak era, influence urban development and planning? Panelists will address these questions and many others.
This workshop has two preliminary readings for download in "Related Media" listed to the right.
