On Freedom with Violence

Chandan Reddy, Piper Anderson, Ruth Wilson Gilmore

In his new book, Freedom with Violence: Race, Sexuality and the U.S. State, Chandan Reddy (English, University of Washington) proposes a new paradigm to understand the relationships between race, sexuality, and citizenship.

Join Chandan Reddy and Piper Anderson (Gallatin School, NYU) for a conversation -- moderated by Ruth Wilson Gilimore -- about how institutionalized violence becomes legitimized, the impacts on communities that are marked as being “non-normative,” and transformative approaches to address the challenges these conditions pose.
