New from the James Gallery Archive
On October 20th 2011, Noortje Marres, Lecturer, Department of Sociology, Goldsmiths, University of London; Shannon Mattern, Associate Professor, Media Studies, The New School for Public Engagement; David Turnbull, Professor, Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture, The Cooper Union, and Katherine Behar, Assistant Professor, Fine and Performing Arts, Baruch College, The City University of New York led a rousing conversation about “object-oriented politics” as part of the "No Thing Unto Itself" panel discussion, itself an event connected to the “And Another Thing” exhibition (Sept. 14-Oct. 29, 2011), at the James Gallery, which highlights artworks that relegate humans to the level of “thingness,” akin to any other object.
